Troops of 1 Division Nigerian Army have neutralized four insurgents while others escaped with gunshot wounds.
This is according to a statement issued by the Acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations 1 Division Nigerian Army, Lt.Gen. Musa Yahaya.
He said, ”During the firefight that ensued, troops neutralized four insurgents while others escaped with gunshot wounds. Troops also recovered three AK 47 rifles, seven AK 47 rifle magazines and two motorcycles.”
According to him, troops of the division received a tip off on insurgents’ movement on Wednesday and they quickly moved to intercept the insurgents in Kwaga village in Kaduna State, adding that the insurgents, who could not withstand the firepower of the troops, ran into the forest in disarray abandoning their victims.
“The troops successfully rescued all 11 kidnapped victims,” he added.
Yahaya noted that preliminary investigation revealed that the victims were kidnapped on Tuesday from their village in Masuku in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State.
He explained that their team has given medical attention to the victims and reunited them with their families.
He said the General Officer Commanding 1 Div and Force Commander Operation ”WHIRL PUNCH”, Maj-Gen Valentine Okoro, applauded the troops for the success recorded, appealing to the general public to continue to avail troops and other security agencies with real time intelligence.
He also called on locals to report persons with gunshot wounds seeking paramedics’ attention to the troops or other security agencies for prompt action.
