Sowore demands release of three women allegedly arrested for organizing Niger protest

The presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, AAC, in the last general election, Omoyele Sowore, has called for immediate release of women allegedly arrested for initiating the recent food price protest in Niger State.

DAILY POST reports that some women and youths, on Monday blocked major roads in Minna, the Niger State capital over the economic hardship in the country.

However, reports say that one Aisha Jibrin and other individuals, who led the protest were on Wednesday arrested by officers of the Niger State Police command.

Reacting, Sowore in a post on his verified X handle urged the police to immediately release the women, saying the protest was heroic.

He wrote, “I have just received information that the woman who initiated the food price protest in Niger State has been arrested by the @@PoliceNG for organising this heroic act, she and other women are to be arraigned by the Police.

“The police must release them immediately. These women are going to be more of this uprising coming the way of Nigeria”.

The ruling APC had accused the opposition parties of instigating protests against the President Bola Tinubu-led government.
