‘Dollarization’ of economy: EFCC summons varsity proprietors charging fees in dollars

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, said it has set up a Special Task Force in all its Zonal Commands to tackle the ‘dollarization’ of the economy.

It added that it has invited proprietors of private universities and other institutions of higher learning in Nigeria charging fees in dollars.

A statement by EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, on Wednesday said the task force would ensure the enforcement of extant laws against currency mutilation and dollarization of the economy.

The statement noted that the Commission had already arrested some persons who engaged in issuing invoices in dollars and in mutilation of the Naira in Lagos and Port Harcourt.
