FG to unveil National Values Charter soon — Minister of Information Malagi

The Director General of the Voice of Nigeria, VON, Alhaji Jibrin Ndace, has said that the Federal Government will soon unveil the National Values Charter.

He stated this in a message delivered on behalf of the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris Malagi, at the 2024 Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Press Week in Niger State.

Ndace said: “Soon the Federal Government will unveil comprehensive details of the National Values Charter, which will be premised on the principles that the government, as represented by elected representatives, must provide certain basic needs for its citizens and live by example to justify a firm adherence to a social contract from the citizens.”

According to him, the National Values Charter will contain “seven core promises” of the Nigerian state to the citizens and another “seven commitments” of the citizens towards their country.

He divulged the plans while commenting on the recent controversy triggered by the relocation of some units of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, and the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, from Abuja to Lagos State.

He assured that the move by the Federal Government has no political undertones but is part of a broader strategy to enhance operational efficiency, streamline processes, and ensure a responsive financial system for the country, as well as reduce operational costs.
