Zamfara: Gov Lawal pledges help for victims of market gutted by fire

Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has pledged to extend all possible support and assistance to the victims of the fire outbreak at the Gusau Central Market.

DAILY POST reports that fire broke out at Gusau Central Market on Tuesday night, resulting in the death of one person while over 50 shops were gutted.

Sulaiman Bala Idris, the spokesman of the Zamfara State governor, said in a statement that Governor Lawal, while assessing the damages caused by the fire, vowed to help those affected by the tragedy.

The governor, while addressing the victims of the fire incident at the Gusau Central Market, Zamfara, reportedly said: “I would like to express my condolences to the market leadership and the family of the victim who passed away due to the recent fire incident.

“Even before the unfortunate fire incident, I constituted a committee to conduct a thorough investigation on how the government could intervene to enhance and develop the markets across the state. My government is committed to supporting the victims of the fire incident and will explore various ways to mitigate their loss.

The Zamfara State Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Abdulrahman Tumbido, disclosed that the government provided an emergency response to control and extinguish the fire.

Responding on behalf of the victims, the chairman of the Gusau Central Market commended the Zamfara State Government for its prompt response following the unfortunate incident.
