AFCON: Why Nigeria beat Cameroon 2-0 – Sports Minister

The Honourable Minister of Sports Development, John Enoh has suggested that Nigeria defeated Cameroon 2-0 in the Round of 16 at the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, because Jose Peseiro’s men put in a resilient, determination and fighting spirit against the Indomitable Lions.

According to Enoh, the Super Eagles gave an exceptional performance against Cameroon on Saturday night.

Enoh, in a statement signed by his S.A Media, Diana-Mary Tiku Nsan, also highlighted the significance of the victory not only for the team but for the entire nation.

“The resilience, determination, and fighting spirit of Nigeria’s Super Eagles paid off in a spectacular fashion on Saturday evening. The team’s commitment to excellence and unity was evident, and I commend each player for their exceptional performance,” said Enoh.

“This win is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and talent that our nation possesses. It not only brings joy to football fans across the country but also enhances Nigeria’s reputation on the international stage,” he added.

DAILY POST reports that two goals from Ademola Lookman gave Nigeria the win over Cameroon.

Victor Osimhen and Calvin Bassey gave the Atalanta forward the assists.

The Super Eagles will now face Angola in the quarter-finals on Friday, February 2.
