Former Aston Villa captain Gabriel Agbonlahor has revealed that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta’s regret at the club was spending a lot of his transfer budget on Kai Havertz.
Agbonlahor believes Arteta’s decision will cost Arsenal amid the Premier League title race, adding that Havertz was not the answer for the Gunners.
According to the former England international, Arsenal could have used the money they spent on signing the Germany international to purchase a striker like Brentford’s Ivan Toney.
Recall that Arsenal signed Havertz from Chelsea in the summer of 2023 for £65 million.
The 24-year-old has had an overall underwhelming campaign so far, scoring just five goals and providing one assist in 30 appearances across competitions for the Premier League North London club.
“I think the biggest thing Arsenal fans are annoyed with and what Arteta will regret is spending a lot of his transfer budget on Havertz,” Agbonlahor told talkSPORT.
