AFCON 2023: I’m not under pressure to shine for Super Eagles

Napoli hitman, Victor Osimhen insists he is not under pressure to make a mark at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

Osimhen has scored one goal in two appearances for Nigeria in the competition.

The 25-year-old has fluffed several clear-cut chances as well.

Many have attributed that to the pressure of his status as Africa’s current best player.

The striker has, however, debunked the claim stating that he is more focused on helping the Super Eagles achieve success in Cote d’Ivoire.

“I am not under pressure,” Osimhen told reporters in Abidjan.
“I have won the title (African Player of the Year), but it’s now in the past.
“What is most important for me now is to do well with the team, make sure the team do well and win the AFCON.
“I don’t care about my individual performance. I could be on the bench and the other players get the job done.”
