Mr Bernard Udensi, the guest at ABN station, who was arrested by the Abia State Police Command during a live programme in Umuahia, has been hospitalised after his release from detention.
The Director of ABN, Mr Ifeanyi Okali, made this disclosure on Saturday after receiving a visit from the member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency, Obi Aguocha.
Okali revealed that Udensi was manhandled by the officers during the arrest.
He added that the lawmaker has pledged to cover the medical bills for Udensi’s treatment.
Aguocha faulted the police personnel for failing to adhere to minimal rules of engagement.
He expressed sympathy for the guest and ABN TV over the damages caused in the studio due to the forceful invasion.
“I’m here to see for myself. It’s part of my constituency outreach to note the concerns of ABN TV and the concerns of the citizens of Ikwuano/Umuahia federal constituency and indeed Abia State,” he stated.
Aguocha expressed confidence in the capacity of the Abia State Commissioner of Police, Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, to ensure that the erring personnel are sanctioned according to the law.
DAILY POST recalls that on Thursday, Abia State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, visited the ABN office, where he apologised for the unprofessional conduct of the officers.
