Transfer: Fernandez leaves Man Utd for new club

Manchester United have confirmed that their full-back Alvaro Fernandez has left the club to join Portuguese giants Benfica on loan until the end of the season.

The Red Devils disclosed this in a statement via their website on Wednesday morning.

After a promising summer with Man United’s senior squad, Fernandez spent the first half of the campaign at La Liga side Granada CF.

The 20-year-old made 13 appearances in all competitions for Granada.

However, he was recalled earlier this month and will now see out 2023/24 with the Primeira Liga champions.

“This will be another valuable opportunity for Fernandez to get senior experience under his belt and we wish him the best of luck at the Estadio da Luz,” Man United’s statement read in part.
