An Abuja-based non governmental organization, NGO, the Muslim Media Watch Group of Nigeria, MMWG, has called on President Bola Tinubu to urgently address the resurgence and abduction of citizens for ransom by criminals operating across the country.
Reacting to the recent incident that affected Mansur Al-Kadriyyah in Abuja, where a whole family was abducted, the group maintained that it is mind-boggling that the eldest daughter of the family – a 400-level student of a Nigerian university, Nabeeha was killed over the weekend, leaving the balance of five victims in terrible danger of extermination by the kidnappers.
In a statement issued on Monday in Abuja and signed by its National Coordinator, Malam Ibrahim Abdullahi, MMWG called for an immediate crackdown on the criminals.
The group noted that the ongoing trend poses significant dangers not only to the families of the victims but also to the entire Nigerian populace and the nation’s economic development.
The group lamented that the lives of innocent Nigerians remain jeopardized by criminals due to the inefficient and ineffective performance of the Nigerian security system.
They stressed that it is long overdue to put a halt to this menace.
