The federal government has announced plans to undertake a comprehensive review of guidelines for the operation and registration of Information and Communication Technology service providers and contractors.
The country’s apex tech regulatory agency, the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), disclosed this in a statement on Saturday by its Head of Corporate Affairs and External Relations, Hadiza Umar.
Accordingly, the government explained that the review is imperative because the existing document has been in use since 2018, coupled with the necessity of nourishing the growth of the country’s local Information Technology (IT) companies.
“The review is designed to streamline the process for the delivery of IT services to Ministries, Departments and Agencies of the Federal Government of Nigeria.
“These guidelines, initially issued in 2018, have outlined the registration process for indigenous IT service providers that guarantee the delivery of high-quality IT projects to the federal government, upholds the highest standards of professionalism in IT services, and nourishes the growth of local IT companies, all in adherence to the relevant Presidential Executive Orders,” he stated.
