Cote d’Ivoire forward, Sebastien Haller will miss the country’s opening game against Guinea Bissau at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Borussia Dortmund star is currently down with an injury and is not fit enough to face the Nzalang Nacional,” according to Elephants head coach, Jean Louis Gasset.
The Frenchman, however, said the 29-year-old will be available for the country’s subsequent games in the competition.
“Tomorrow Haller will not be available for Guinea-Bissau’s match, and with a five-day break, I believe he will return with the squad,” Gasset told a press conference in Abidjan on Friday.
“He has been training hard with other players facing similar problems, and we are hopeful he will be useful for the next games.”
Cote d’Ivoire will also face Nigeria and Guinea-Bissau in the same group.
