The Speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly, Abdulmalik Mohammad Sarkin Daji, has tasked members of the Local Government Councillors Forum to work together as a team to foster economic development in the state.
Sarkin-Daji stated this at the annual conference of the forum at the Justice Idris Legbo Kutigi International Conference Centre, Minna.
The Speaker commended the efforts of the leadership of the councillors forum for their foresight in organising the conference for the first time in the state, which will assist in improving their legislative knowledge and understanding of parliamentary procedures.
He also appealed for synergy between Niger State and local governments to enhance the economic development of the people.
According to him: “For economic development to be actualised between state and local governments, there must be effective synergy and collaboration between the two tiers of governments. We also assure the forum of our support in achieving your goals.”
Earlier, Bello Alhaji Bako, representing Rijau Constituency, who is also the chairman of the House Standing Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, assured the forum of the support of the Assembly to actualise its mandate.
