Rap not dead – Rapper, Zoro counters Wizkid

Nigerian hip-hop artiste, Owoh Chimaobi Chrismathner, popularly known as Zoro Swagbag, has berated Grammy-winning singer, Wizkid over his controversial statement that “rap is dead.”

He said this is despite Wizkid’s disclaimer that he wasn’t referring to Nigerian rappers, insisting that rappers are the same everywhere.

The ‘Ogene’ crooner, speaking at a recent interview with reality star, Tacha, on Cool FM Nigeria, Lagos said Wizkid’s presentation was awful.

Tacha asked: “What’s your opinion on what Wizkid said about rap being dead? Do you personally think that rap is dead?”

Zoro responded: “I do not think so. But I kind of like the idea of what he was trying to say. The way he said it was wrong.

“He said we quoted him out of context that he wasn’t talking about Nigerian rappers. But I mean, if you’re talking about rappers, rappers are the same everywhere.

“Of course, rap is not dead. It’s just that we took too long to be able to start making rap as enjoyable as we are making it right now. As the likes of Odumodublvck is doing and Falz has already been doing.”
