Gov Kefas warns against possession of government property

Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, has urged individuals and groups in possession of government properties to, as a matter of urgency, return them or brace for the full force of the law.

Addressing the issue at the Executive Chamber of the Government House in Jalingo, the state capital, on Friday, he reiterated his commitment to ensuring that the right procedures are followed to recover all the state’s assets, declaring that he will not tolerate the unlawful confiscation of government assets.

Kefas, who asserted his dedication to governance, stated that his administration would tread all legitimate paths to recover all government items stolen from the state.

“All the assets of the state that need recovery will be recovered and those that need disposal will be disposed of appropriately,” he stated.

His statement comes on the heels of the submission of the reports of the recently established Assets Assessment and Recovery Committee, chaired by retired General Habila Vintenaba.

In his presentation, Vintenaba highlighted instances of gross misuse, diversion, and misappropriation of government properties by certain individuals.

He also told the governor that the state has stolen assets scattered across the country that need to be immediately recovered or disposed of.
