The Taraba State Police Command on Friday confirmed the abduction of 10 persons in the Wuro Musa area of Jalingo, the state capital.
The victims, according to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Usman Abdullahi, were abducted in the early hours of Friday.
Abdullahi, who announced that the police were already in pursuit of the abductors, urged persons with useful information on the incident to reach out to the police or any other security agency.
He said, “Ten persons were kidnapped at about 00.40 hours in Wuro Musa.”
Some residents of the community, who spoke with DAILY POST, urged the state government to collaborate with the security agencies to rescue the victims unhurt.
The kidnappers were said to have stormed the area in their numbers, shooting sporadically in the air to scare the people from preventing them from accessing their targets.
The residents added that the kidnappers operated several hours with no security operatives in sight.
Contrary to the figures made public by the police, the residents told our reporter that 13 persons, including four women, were kidnapped.
