Zimbabwe legend, Peter Ndlovu says it is important for the Warriors to get a good result against Nigeria.
Baltemar Brito’s side will host their illustrious opponent at the Huye Stadium, Butare on Sunday.
Zimbabwe is back on the football scene again after a one-year hiatus following the country’s suspension by the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA).
The Super Eagles have some of the best legs on the continent and are expected to win the contest.
Ndlovu, however, said the Warriors must fight to get a positive result from the game.
“Everyone knows Nigeria is a powerhouse in African football. Obviously, we have to give them respect, but we need to get good results against them,” the former striker told the official matchday programme for Zimbabwe versus Nigeria.
“This is an opportunity for us to re-introduce ourselves onto the international football scene.”
