2026 WCQ: Super Eagles not under pressure to beat South Africa – Nwabali

Stanley Nwabali says the Super Eagles are in a relaxed mood ahead of their crucial home clash against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa, DAILY POST reports.

The Super Eagles will host Hugo Broos’ men in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying fixture at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo on Friday.

It’s a must win encounter for the West Africans, who are yet to record a win in Group C.

The three-time African champions picked just two points from their opening two games against Lesotho and Zimbabwe.

A draw of defeat against the South Africans could further hamper their chances of qualifying for the mundial.

Nwabali, however, said the Super Eagles are battle ready for the upcoming game and will do their best to secure maximum points.

“There is no pressure, we just take the game one at a time, we just have to put ourselves together and try to win the game (against South Africa), then move on to the next game against Benin in Abidjan,” he told the Super Eagles media.

“All we need now is to win this game and fight hard to qualify for the World Cup. Everybody is training hard and looking forward to the game.”
